drive by update
Friday, 11 July 2008 08:21The road trip is going well. Have access to internet this morning, since Tennessee is full of road closures and detours (as well as Alabama). We dealt with a police barricade closing part of I-59 in Alabama and then a detour for I-40 in Tennessee. Which all translates to us arriving at Smoky Mountains National Park after 10pm, in the complete darkness and rain. So, after passing through the Vegas/Orlando love child town of pigeon forge, we decided to just stay at a hotel, since it would have taken us at least another thirty minutes to find our campground in the park. But our hotel is right on a river, which is a pretty amazing view to wake up to. And the mountains are covered in 'smoke' this morning, living up to their name.
Pensacola was a blast - getting to see Angela and April was fabulous as always and got a chance to see Wall-E which I highly recommend.
Orlando was fabulous as well. Tracey took us to a great artist's tapas restaurant and the food was amazing. We also had an incredible time at Animal Kingdom. (even if it did pour and soak us thee times).
So yeah, we'll end up in Shenandoah National Park tonight, and after that, it's a detour to West Virginia to see the Halley family, then to D.C. to drop off the wedding presents / all the rest of the happy couple's stuff. I know I owe a bunch of D.C. people a visit, but we'll really probably just be crashing at my brother's without much time for socialization. Next time, I promise.
