stress & harvard
Friday, 20 June 2008 11:53So, stress & everything is getting to me I think. Broke down crying three times on the way to the eye doctor yesterday. But ran into
marketsquare and got hugs, which is good. Also finally got the contact situation straightened out and ordered and my doc told me I'm a good candidate for lasik. Which makes me happy, even if I don't have the money for that right now. Because I don't remember waking up and seeing the world in focus.
Slept like absolute crap last night. Woke up at 3am to a painful spider bite. Looks a bit better this morning though.
Also, thing that made my morning - HDS' new prof - Mark D. Jordan. An excerpt:
"Mark D. Jordan, a renowned and wide-ranging scholar whose academic interests include the varieties of theological rhetoric, the performance of religious identities, Christian teachings on sex, and the work of Thomas Aquinas, has been appointed as the first Richard Reinhold Niebuhr Professor of Divinity at Harvard Divinity School...
With a strong background in medieval theology and textual studies, Jordan has in recent years focused on the field of sexual ethics, producing books that are widely regarded to have opened important new avenues of discourse, especially in regard to homosexuality and to ethical reflection on marriage. These books include The Invention of Sodomy in Christian Theology (Chicago 1997), The Silence of Sodom: Homosexuality in Modern Catholicism (Chicago 2000), The Ethics of Sex (Blackwell 2001), Telling Truths in Church (Beacon 2002), Blessing Same-Sex Unions (Chicago 2005), and Authorizing Marriage? Canon, Tradition, and Critique in the Blessing of Same-Sex Unions (Princeton 2006)"
*grins* Aquinas and sexual ethics? Oh man, Christmas came early this year.
And now, gratuitous lyrics that made me cry yesterday. ( Being Alive )
Now to go make progress on the To-Do list of doom.
