Books 35-37 of 50
Thursday, 13 December 2007 07:1135. Title: Radical Ecstasy
Authors: Dossie Easton & Janet Hardy
Pages: 215
Date Finished: 12.XII.07
Thoughts: Very new age. Second half attempts to be a how to guide, focusing on tantra and its incorporation in BDSM. So-So overall.
36. Title: Philosophy in the Dungeon: The Magic of Sex & Spirit
Author: Jack Rinella
Pages: 234
Date Finished: 12.XII.07
Thoughts: One of the more intelligent BDSM/Sprituality books. Even though he takes a new age approach at the end (which is not useful to my research) he quotes his sources and incorporates various mystical traditions and a bit about the science of mysticism and ecstasy.
37. Title: The Silent Cry: Mysticism and Resistance
Author: Dorothee Soelle
Pages: 302
Date Finished: 12.XII.07
Thoughts: Interesting viewpoint for a theological book on mysticism, but excellent on the varied religious traditions of mysticism, the notion that 'we are all mystics', and descriptions of mysticism as resistance and its use in the liberation theology movements.
Now to get cracking on the actual writing of the paper. But I finished an outline last night!
